As a point of interest, over here most of the 795s are designated as "Marlin 795TB" and come ready screwcut. I'm guessing, but it's probably a process carried out by our UK importers, because we routinely use sound moderators, it is likely considered a good selling point!

Yep, I've got a 989-M2, the 795 mags work quite well in it. If you have ANY issues with a 795 mag in an older Marlin, it's likely the mag needs a little feed lip tuning.
