In my 7mm-08, it's awesome! Never found a better combination than 7-08, 140 grain bullet and Varget (42.5 grains=2850 fps). My 7-08 Mountain Rifle shoots 140 ABs at 2730 with 43 grains of Varget. So far it shoots well provided the bullets are 140 grains and the powder is IMR 4350. Velocity with 46grs and a 140 Nosler BT is 2600fps over my chronograph. 47grs and a 139gr Hornady flatbase is 2700. Accuracy is around an inch or slightly over at 100 yards.
I2Idc, I hunt with a BLR-81 in the 7mm/08. Here are some loads that work for me. These are max in my rifle. Oct 15, 2013 · I have awhile til it's done. Is it reasonable to assume that any 243 win or 308 win powders will work in the 7mm-08? I have a lot of IMR 4064 from my 243 but wanted some others to try. H4895, varget, H4350. I am leaning toward the extreme line because of such big temp swings from practice in summer to hunting in winter. Any pet loads are welcomed. There are two reduced recoil factory loads available for the 7mm-08. The Remington Managed Recoil load uses a 140 grain Core-Lokt PSP bullet at a MV of 2360 fps. The MPBR (+/- 3") of this load is 230 yards. The Hornady Custom Lite load uses a 120 grain SST bullet at a MV of 2675 fps. It has a MPBR (+/- 3") of 260 yards. Well, I tried out my 708 yesterday, not with A-MAXs, but with 150grBT on top of 39.5grs. Varget, CCI BR primers, Nickel brass, very good group of .402 for 5 shots, I'm very happy with the combo. I'd say 38grs. (Give or take .5gr.) of Varget with the 162 A-MAX would be a deadly combination in the 708 if you'd want to try that, Hunter700.

Best thing to do is to work up for YOUR gun. RL19 tends to be a pretty fluffy powder so expect compressed loads.
