Connecting pit boss to wifi

I have a PB710T1 grill that was not wifi. I purchased the wifi control board from Pit Boss. Installation was very simple and everything seemed to work up to the point of trying to get the grill to connect through the Pit Boss app. My phone can see the grill in the bluetooth devices under settings but the app cannot see it.
