There are literally new hinge kits with back covers on Amazon for $35. It is an easy diy repair. My wife has a friend that GAVE her a i7 ideapad 5 for free. It needed a fresh boot of windows and a hinge. I've got $35 in it. Great little laptop for free ($35). Same thing with my daughter’s laptop. Also a Lenovo for 5 years (no hinge issues) before I bought the ACER which is only a year and a half. So, no warranty is not an option. I have completed a bit of research around this issue and it seems more like an Acer engineering fault. One that you hope an pray doesn't rear its ugly head until the warranty period expires.
