The upgrades to the 3+ aren't that big of a deal. Now you need different mags.9mm and .22 bullets are a lot cheaper than 5.56mm. You're not wrong. Id have to look into it more, but a big advantage of a pistol caliber carbine like this, is the ability to make a very quiet gun via a suppressor, where as .223 rifle rounds will essentially always be relatively loud due to sonic boom.
