You spend the feat for boon companion to keep your animal companion on level but you get dex to attack and damage 2d8 sneak attack (3d8 if you take accomplished sneak attacker) 2 rogue tricks, debilitating injury, and a bunch of skill points.

Lorewise I would think Aeon fits Hellknight, Druid, Monk and Inquisitor best while Azata fits Bard, Hunter, Rogue and maybe Witch Skald, too. The base Inquisitor is already in the bottom tier of Kingmaker classes - not much of a fighter and not much of a caster either.
